The pandemic lockdowns

in March 2020 affected neurodivergent people hugely

Five years ago, almost to the hour I was told not to come back to the office as I had spent time close to someone who had since tested positive for Covid 19.

Speaking personally, my lockdown experience was not terrible. We lived in an old terraced stone built house in Yorkshire, I remember lots of sunshine and sitting in the garden. Mick started planting lovely flowers and I ordered a swing chair to sit in the sun, plus Roxy arrived from the Dogs Trust the day before the first lockdown.

Lots of Neurodivergent people struggled during lockdown though, here are some of the challenges:

Disruption to routines

Increased social isolation

Difficulties with remote work & learning

Reduced access to support services

Overwhelm from changing rules & uncertainty

There were also some benefits:

More flexible work environments

Less social pressure

Increased awareness of accessibility needs

Time for Self-Discovery

How was the lockdown for you? If it happened again what would you do differently?

Wait, does the nav block sit on the footer for this theme? That’s bold.
