World Book Day
As part of my continuing professional development (and because one of my main strengths is love of learning) I am part of a cohort of GoldMind Academy’s ADHD coming home module. It is fabulous and I am really going to miss it when it comes to an end in a couple of weeks.
Today we did an exercise which involved writing a ‘letter’ to our younger selves before we were aware of ADHD. It was a series of prompts including things like favorite memories and what you value and appreciate from that time.
One of the things which came up for me was my love of reading fiction. It remains one of my favorite things to do and in times of stress I find that it is the only real things which can take my thoughts away from the situation.
Do you find reading (or something else) is similar for you?
I now read using my iPad as it is easy to travel with and I can keep a huge tbr pile on there without guilt. My current reading streak (according to Kindle) is 195 weeks which takes us to mid 2021 which sounds about right. I lost my reading mojo in 2020.
At the moment I am enjoying urban fantasy. I like a series of books ideally. I am a pattern matcher and so I often work out the twist in books so I love a book which has a twist I don’t see coming.
We didn’t ‘do’ World Book Day’ when I was at school. Who would I have dressed up as if we did? I really don’t know. Maybe that is a question for my Mum.
Here are a few of my favorite authors and series of books. What are yours?

I really enjoy all of John Scalzi’s books. They are so different to anything else I have read. This was my first one.

Rivers of London is a favourite series I have read many times

I have read all of Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid series but I love this (currently three book) series

Not urban fantasy but still urban, we saw the TV series first and then I read all of the books. Fantastic characters.
Have you got any recommendations for me?
